Bidding Farewell to 2020

Where to start when it hasn't yet ended. In a normal year, writing an end of year note a month before the year closes wouldn't cause pause. This year, however; I'm afraid it leaves too much time for the unknown. But I'll say this, we've made it this far and have found ourselves with love, joy, and a new found sense of co-habitation patience. We celebrated 10 years in our home and Travis and I celebrated our 10-year anniversary. 

The girls have been largely virtual for their schooling which has had ups and downs. I never thought my 8 and 5 year old would have their own laptop-- much less 2 (the school has provided their own as well). They are starting to learn to type and have gained the ability to navigate around the technology. 

Every ying needs its yang. So, with the increase in technology and screen time we have all become avid explores. Starting this Spring the entire family got involved in learning and foraging for culinary mushrooms. We have a gotcha list of over 20 varieties and hope to continue finding more in the year to come. Charlie has risen to occasion and his classroom looks much differently this year. Instead of learning the typical preschool ways with toys, peers, and songs, he's commanded the great outdoors. His knowledge of mushrooms "good to eat" and not is impressive for even the seasoned forager. 

Travis has enjoyed his new commute, taking the trip down the stairs and through the kitchen to get to his office....eh hem, my office. Our office has gone though major renovation at the start of the year and it couldn't have happened at a better time. Work is going well and he is enjoying the continuation of research and applying his background in geology. 

I am the great ring leader to this circus and this year has added some fiery hoops to jump through. I've continued my photography and business development consulting, though the circumstances has left this a dry year. To supplement, I started with Scout & Cellar sharing the unknown good of clean-crafted wine & beverages. The new "normal" juggle has kept me busy, but I can proudly say that I am excelling at Kindergarten and 2nd grade curriculum. 

Time will only tell what 2021 will bring, but I expect nothing short of amazing.
